Squash, squash and more squash...
Last season we had an absolute bounty of squash as you can see on our homepage pictures! We ate squash almost every meal all winter! Now a lot of you out there may be saying to yourselves..."Squash? Why would I want to eat squash? And what would I do with it anyway?" Let me tell you...
First off...squash is abundant in vitamins, minerals, and fiber! It is said by some to be one of the healthiest foods you can eat. Second, squash is a keeper! If you have a cool dry spot to store it you can eat it quite easily into early spring. All winter, while many of you out there were complaining about the price of vegetables in the stores, we would quietly go out to our shop, pick another squash and bring it in for supper! Thirdly, there are many ways to cook it...squash soup, baked, boiled, made into pie, and the list goes on. Our favorite is just to boil it, or cook it in the microwave cut in half, skin left on, in a covered casserole with just a little water, mash it and eat it with butter, brown sugar, and nutmeg mmmm, yum!
Our favorites are the Guatemalan Blue (below right), Blue Ballet, Turks Turban (below left) and New Zealand Blue (middle). It is definitely something you need to try!

Already bought your Queensland from one of your supporting merchants. Going to try it in a Three Sisters configuration this year.
