The Early White Scallop is a 400 year heirloom variety. This smooth skinned disk shaped squash is about 12-14cm (5-6”) in diameter with smooth scalloped edges & white-speckled green rinds. Creamy texture and nutty flavour when cooked properly. The Early White Scallop grows on a bush-type habitat and produces an abundant quantity of these ‘flying saucer’ shaped fruits. Easy to grow and unbothered by most insects. Creamy, tasty texture makes these little squashes great for many dishes.

Additional Information
You will not need to grow many of these plants as they are quite prolific producers unless you have lots of friends and family that enjoy Early White Scallop Squash. The bush habit is rather closed and can make harvesting a bit of a challenge. Sow squash in the garden as early as 2 weeks after the last average frost date in spring. To get a head start on the season sow squash indoors about 3 weeks before you transplant it into the garden. Sow succession crops every 2 to 4 weeks to extend the harvest and to protect against crops loss to insects or disease. Time all plantings so that squash comes to harvest before the first frost in fall. |
