Beta vulgaris
Lot# BE23503
Chioggia is a striking and colorful Italian heirloom beet variety that has been grown in home gardens since at least the 1840's. The beets have a light red, flattened globe-shaped root with colorful interior rings of alternating pink and white. When roots average around 5 cm (2") diameter in size, it is a good time to harvest. They have a good old fashioned sweet flavour and can be baked whole and or sliced just before serving.
