Black Turtle Bean is an old heirloom variety that was introduced in the late 1700's. Dry pods have beautiful, vivid jet black plump seeds. The bush variety bean are heat resistant, and have a good disease tolerance. Plants can grow between 45-51 cm (18-24”) tall and have an average spread between 30-40 cm (12-16”). Typically they are grown to harvest the dry beans that are used in black bean soup. Matures in 90-100 days.
