Provider bush is a very popular and reliable early bush bean (50 days). A very widely adapted, stress-tolerant variety with good disease resistance. The plants are compact with a strong root system, growing to 38-45 cm (15-18") tall with a spread that averages 30-40 cm (12-16”) wide. Seeds can germinate in cool soils. Produces heavy crops of round, green, fleshy pods that hang in clusters around the base of the vines. Good fresh with a fine flavour. Ideal for freezing. Maroon colored dry beans.

Additional Information
Avoid planting in soil that stays consistently damp or wet. We generally plant 3-4 rows at a time and space out rows at 20-25 cm (8-10”) apart. It is perfect because most people can reach across that width. You can grow 3-4 times the amount of heirloom beans in the same space, you reduce the amount of area for weeds, and you'll save on water. It is about 50-60 days for green beans, 100+ days for dry beans. Beans typically need warm soil of 18°C (65°F) or higher. Grows best in full sun with well watered soil. Regular harvesting of the young pods will ensure a greater yield. Pick frequently for maximum yields, but avoid disturbing foliage in wet weather to prevent spread of fungal diseases. White-seeded beans usually don’t germinate as well as dark-seeded. |
