Approximately 3-4 seeds per gram.
Pisum sativum
Lot# PE31204
This shorter 61-76 cm (24-30") variety prefers cooler weather and produces heavy yields of slim, 10 cm (4"), dark green pods that contain 8-11 peas of superb quality for fresh eating, freezing, cooking, or canning. Born in pairs, the pods mature about 62-76 days after planting.  Although it is a short bush type, Green Arrow produces heavy yields of dark green pods and would benefit from some support from a pea fence.

Planting Instructions:
  • Direct sow pea seeds in loose, well worked soil, when soil temperature is around 10-20°C (50-70°F).  As a general rule of thumb, we plant about 25 seeds per 30 cm (12”)  at 12 mm-25 mm (½-1") deep.  We typically prepare to plant double rows of peas in our gardens.  Stake and string rows as long as you require and cut two 2.5 cm (1”) deep furrows with hoe or rake about 7 cm  (3”) apart.  We generally space our double rows 45-60 cm (18-24") apart.  Cover with soil and gently tamp down soil with the tined end of a garden rake along the entire row.  Ensure the soil is reasonably damp to promote germination. The best time to install a trellis or a pea fence is directly after planting time. Suspend the bottom of the trellis net or chicken wire just above the young plants.
  • Soil Conditions:  Well worked rich, loose well-drained soil.
  • Planting Depth:   Plant pea seeds 2.5 cm (1") deep, in double rows that are 2-7 cm (1-3") apart.
  • Germination:  7-10 days.
  •  Height at Maturity: 61-76 cm (24-30") tall.  Spread:  30 cm (11")  across.
  •  Days to Maturity:   67-72 days.
  • Watering:  2.5 cm (1") of water a week ensures good growth, whether vegetables are grown in single or wide rows. The amount of rain that falls during the week affects how much you should water your garden.
  • Sun/Shade:  Full Sun
  • Spacing after Thinning:   No thinning required.
Additional Information
Open pollinated-untreated seeds.  It is a very early season pea that produces abundant amounts of tasty peas that are perfect for eating fresh or freezing.  Green Arrow peas make an excellent choice for home gardens and organic production. Green Arrow pea have strong, medium vines that reach 61-76 cm (24-30”) tall.  Vines will need to be staked or trellised to help provide support for heavy pod production.
