Approximately 3-4 seeds per gram.
Pisum sativum
Lot # PE31215
Super Sugar Snap produces #1 quality, medium dark green 3-4” (7.6-10 cm) long pods. It is one of our many favorites for taste and tenderness.  A very heavy producer with plump 4" pods.  The vines grow to about 152 cm (60”) and will require staking or a trellis to support both the dark green vines and the abundant peas that will follow.  Sugar Super Snap peas prefer cooler weather.
These fat, 8 cm (3") dark-green pods are the sweetest of  snap peas. The crunchy pods are excellent for eating cooked or raw. The climbing vines must be trellised and will easily grow 2 m (6') or more in good soil.

Planting Instructions:
  • Direct sow pea seeds in loose, well worked soil, when soil temperature is around 10-20°C (50-70°F).  As a general rule of thumb, we plant about 25 seeds per 30 cm (12”) and 12 mm-25 mm (½-1") deep.  We typically prepare to plant double rows of peas in our gardens.  Stake and string rows as long as you require and cut two 2.5 cm (1”) deep furrows with hoe or rake about 7 cm (3”) apart.  We generally space our double rows 45-60 cm (18-24") apart.  Cover with soil and gently tamp down soil with the tined end of a garden rake along the entire row.  Ensure the soil is reasonably damp to promote germination. The best time to install a trellis or a pea fence is directly after planting time. Suspend the bottom of the trellis net or chicken wire just above the young plants.
  • Soil Conditions:  Well worked rich, loose well-drained soil.
  • Planting Depth:   Plant  seeds 2.5 cm (1") deep, in double rows that are 2-7 cm (1-3") apart.
  • Germination:  7-10 days.
  • Height at Maturity: 152 cm (60”) tall.  Spread:  30.0 cm (12") across.
  • Days to Maturity:   52-57 days.
  • Watering: 2.5 cm (1") of water a week ensures good growth, whether vegetables are grown in single or double rows. The amount of rain that falls during the week affects how much you should water your garden.
  • Sun/Shade:  Full Sun
  • Spacing after Thinning:   No thinning required.
